The regional capital is Turin.
Piedmont is a region that has many mountains and both an industrial and agricultural tradition. The production of wines, favored by the nearby Alps, and other excellences, makes it one of the most important regions for production. Among the best-known names, even at an international level, we have: Barolo, Barbaresco, Barbera, Asti spumante, Grignolino, Dolcetto. In the region there are 45 DOC and 9 DOCG brands and the production of Nebbiolo.
At the moment there are three municipalities that have joined the initiative:
Houses for 1 euro in the Municipality of Albugnano (Asti); the Municipality of Borgomezzavalle (Verbania); the Municipality of Carrega Ligure (Alessandria);
The municipality of Albugnano is also called the balcony of Monferrato, thanks to its splendid view of Piedmont and its Alps.
It is in the province of Asti, a well-known medieval city producing the prized Barbera wine and Asti sparkling wine, and is a small town of around 500 inhabitants
The initiative seeks to stem the abandonment of this town and redevelop the territory

With only 300 inhabitants, Borgomezzavalle, in the Antrona Valley, in the province of Verbania, is among the smallest towns in the 1 Euro Houses project. In this town there are many abandoned houses, some historic from the 16th century.
There are around one hundred homes available in the 1 Euro Houses project of the Municipality of Borgomezzavalle, which has also activated economic incentives to relaunch local trade: €2000 for those who open a nursery or a new business in the town.

It is a municipality spread over a vast territory which has eleven hamlets, but it also has only 86 inhabitants!
The role of the Municipality will be, in this case, as a simple intermediary to connect those who want to get rid of their "ruin" (perhaps not for 1 Euro but certainly for very modest amounts) with those who want to renovate it, to enjoy the healthy beauty of our valleys.
